What is Outdoor Paragon?
Outdoor Paragon is a free web resource portal for experiential, environmental, outdoor and recreation education hosted on David Spencer's Education Paragon. Resources include green energy sources, astronomy, birding, camping, canoeing, climbing, conservation, dogsledding, environmental issues, geocaching, hiking, indigenous plant species, kayaking, mountain biking, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, wilderness ethics and wilderness survival. Professional Learning Opportunities

Outdoor Paragon encourages you to attend the following professional learning opportunities and join these associations for your experiential, environmental, outdoor and recreation education.

COEO Conference

The Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario (COEO) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that promotes safe and high quality outdoor education experiences for people of all ages. It also acts as a professional body for outdoor educators in the province of Ontario. These aims are achieved through publishing Pathways: The Ontario Journal of Outdoor Education as well as an electronic newsletter, running an annual conference and regional workshops, maintaining this web site, and working with kindred organizations as well as government agencies.


OAGEE Conference

The Ontario Association for Geographic Education (OAGEE) is the geography subject association for Ontario educators.


ORCKA Canoeing and Kayaking Skills Training

The Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) was formed in 1975 to promote accessibility of paddling experiences for everyone, the development of safe, competent and knowledgeable recreational paddlers, igniting the passion for a journey of paddling experiences and the preservation of the paddling environment. Today, ORCKA continues grow in a dynamic manner to support and develop recreational canoeing and kayaking in Ontario!



OSEE Conference

The Ontario Society for Environmental Education (OSEE) is a professional organization whose members include teachers from all levels of education, people who teach in outdoor education centres or parks and people who are involved directly or indirectly with environmental education.


STAO Conference

Science Teachers Association of Ontario (STAO) Promotes excellence in science education through leadership and service. They publish Elements and Crucible.
