- Course Description Canada: History, Identity, and Culture examines the evolution of a Canadian national identity. Students will learn how modern Canada was shaped by the interaction among Aboriginal peoples, the French, the English, and subsequent immigrant groups. This course will enable students to evaluate major social, economic, and political changes in Canadian history from pre-contact to the present. The understanding students gain through the examination of Canada’s historical and cultural roots will help them formulate a definition of what it means to be Canadian.
