The epicenter was out in the Pacific Ocean in Prince William Sound. The sea floor rose as much as 30 feet generating large undersea waves. A 30 foot high tsunami (wave) rolled into the port of Seaward carrying burning oil. Two more waves hit and washed the port into the ocean. In all 131 people lost their lives.
